At the core of the Our Ocean conferences are voluntary commitments for significant and meaningful actions towards a clean, healthy and productive ocean. Previous conferences have resulted in nearly one thousand commitments. Governments, organisations and businesses are encouraged to announce new and far-reaching actions to the best of our ocean at this year’s conference. Commitments should have significant impact, be measurable and have a clear timeframe.
Reporting progress on previous commitments is essential for accountability. Progress on previous commitments for the 2019 Conference should be reported at your earliest convenience here.
How to update a commitment?
You can only update commitments if they are in the Draft status or if they have been already approved and published once.
The status of your commitment won’t change unless you have changed the commitment`s progress, in which case, it will be assigned the Progress update status. The host will only need to approve your updates when you changed the commitment`s progress to Completed. If your final updates are approved your commitment will no longer be editable and it will be assigned the Closed status.
New commitments for this year’s conference can be registered here. Registered commitments will be sent to the host for approval. New commitments will be made public after the relevant session at the conference on 23-24 October.
Progress on commitments should be reported annually to the host-country of the conference.
New commitments should be registered as soon as possible.
